Moves in Portugal

A local move is less complex than an international move, but it's still important to take the proper precautions to reduce any risks and ensure a smooth, trouble-free move.

Our experts highlight a set of important steps to consider when moving nationally

Approximately 1 month before the move:

  1. Create an inventory of the things you are going to move;
    Decide what to do with things you don't intend to take with you;
    Purchase packaging material (you can purchase them from MoveForce);
  2. Ensure the discontinuation of services such as newspaper subscriptions, water, electricity, gas, etc.;
  3. Communicate your change of address to the post office, social security, banks, magazines, finance, friends and family, a week before your move;
  4. Defrost the fridge, find a place for frozen food and clean the oven;
  5. If you have equipment such as a lawn mower, defuel them;
    Remove rugs, curtains and clothes, and take the opportunity to put them in the laundry room.

On the day of the move:

  1. Don't forget to put aside items such as cleaning products that you intend to use during the day;
  2. Make sure the inventory is with you and go around the house to make sure you haven't forgotten anything;
  3. Turn off all the lights, lock the windows and the door;
    You should take into account the alteration of documents such as the identity card, driving license, voter card and passport;
  4. Communicate the change of address to all entities you are associated with;
  5. Our professionals will accompany you throughout the process and will be available to answer all your questions.
