Our experts highlight a set of points to consider when planning your international move
- Update the valuation of your items for insurance purposes;
- Confirm if carpets and curtains have to be washed before the transport to the new residence;
- Turn off washing and drying machines, exhaust fans, antennas, lamps, air conditioners and gas installations;
- Place a “DO NOT BRING” sign on items that are meant to stay;
Make sure medicine and perfume bottles are properly sealed; - If you are not available on the day of the packing, indicate a trusted person to accompany the process;
- The day before the move, turn off the freezer and fridge;
- Confirm the voltage, type of sockets and television system of the new residence;
- Use the “MOVEFORCE URGENT” label to indicate the objects you will need immediately upon arrival at your destination;
- Follow all the instructions in the MoveForce documents, so that your items are processed as quickly as possible by customs;
- About 30 days before the move, request the cancellation of services such as gas, water, electricity, television and telephone. Note that the cancellation deadlines for these services may vary;
- Do not forget to take with you documents such as passport, air tickets, identity card, driving license and car documents;
- Let MoveForce know in advance if you need to transport jewelry, historical collections, alcoholic beverages, any type of vehicle, firearms, plants, food or animals to another country;
